Holiday Card 2013 Making of

So I heard about this DA card project and wanted to try it!

Here is the card I made and the steps I had to take, facing the perils of broken toothpicks and cat photobombs.

While speaking with CatsWire we happened upon miniature knitting, especially with toothpicks (yep like This). Then I wanted to try it too!   Because I enjoy living dangerously like that! ^^ So holiday card + miniature knitting it was!

I found myself a blank card, glue, some cheerful yarn and a bunch of (unused!) toothpicks and went to work.

The yarn is n°2 acrylic 'layette' (no idea how you English speaking folks call that, it's that extra thin yarn for baby stuff).

The beginning was bumpy because toothpicks can hurt yah . So I went for a basic jersey scarf design except extra small.

Then the cat came to 'help' me and things got better!
J'ai fait des côtes au bord puis tout en jersey.

Once the scarf part was finished, I cut come length to make a mini 'pelote' (how do you guys call that, a yarn ball? hahah ).
Une fois la longueur atteinte, j'ai fait une ptite pelote avec le fil.

Here is when I got engrossed in my work and have no pics of the mini bonnet I made also with toothpicks.   You can see it in the next photo! I also decorated the scarf with a fringe.

Next was decorating the toothpicks and making the card. I jammed some pearls at the end of the picks and removed whatever sticked out with a nail-cutter for a clean break.
 
Pour décorer les cure-dents, il suffit d'enfiler une perle au bout. S'il y a quoique ce soit qui dépasse, coupez avec un coupe ongle pour ne pas abîmer le cure-dent.

Now the sticky part. I found a nice position for my minis but had to experiment with glues. Turns out the Neoprene glue is the best. But it's a fungly color and can stain stuff so use only a little bit (also it stinks but thats not here nor there). :bademoticon:

J'ai collé mes miniatures avec de la colle Néoprène, très efficace. Attention ca tache et ca adhère vite donc faut pas se louper sur le positionnement!

Now all thats left is to write something on the card et voilà! A nice wintery theme

It was incredibly fun to make!
